Brooklyn at 11 Month. . .

  • Walking, but limits it to our T.V. room.  She's pretty hesitant to take any independent steps when she gets to hard surfaces.
  • Teeth are coming in like crazy
  • Loves avocados and strawberries
  • Hair is getting thicker, but growing very slowly
  • Loves swimming and the water, but does NOT like taking a bath

Minnesota Vacation

The boys had been counting down the days for our Minnesota vacation and the time had finally come!  Ryan and Brandon have been talking about seeing their cousins, going to the Mall of America, flying in an airplane, and fishing to anyone who will listen.

I worried about how Brooklyn would do on the flight. . .being a mom, I tried to control the whole situation. . .I booked our afternoon flight at nap time hoping and praying that Brooklyn would drink her bottle during take-off and fall into a deep, deep sleep until we landed in Minneapolis.  In reality, I should have realized (especially doing this with the first two) this was NOT going to happen.  When a new adventure presents itself, my kids are not missing out on anything.  Although we had to endure three hours of squirming and restlessness, Brooklyn did well and the boys loved their plane ride.

We were on a bit of a time crunch upon landing in Minneapolis.  At the last minute, Nate decided that if we were going to Minneapolis then the boys HAD to see a Twins game.  We found out the Twins were playing in town the same night as we flew in.  What time did we land?  6:00. . . What time did the Twins play? 7:00.  We quickly hopped on our shuttle to our hotel where Uncle Jeff and Auntie Angie were patiently waiting for us.  Uncle Jeff, Nate, and the boys hopped in the car and headed down to the stadium.  Auntie Angie was nice enough to hang out in the hotel with Brookie and me.

The boys had a great time!  Nate said that Ryan and Brandon enjoyed the baseball food probably more than the actual baseball game, but it was the experience that counted.  It ended up being a late night, but the boys went to bed with smiles on their faces.

The next morning we were out of bed early to get ready for our Mall of America day.  We met Grandpa Jeff and Grandma Tressa at the mall right at 10 so we could maximize Brooklyn's "awake" time.  We knew Brooklyn would have to miss her morning nap in order for the boys to get plenty of "ride time".  Nickelodeon Universe was empty when we got to the mall so the boys were able to ride all the rides they wanted to go on and even ride a few of their favorites multiple times.  The boys were really brave and went on all the rides (I went on one roller coaster with them and pulled a neck muscle and Nate went on a ride and thought he was going to die. . .obviously we're getting old) and had an amazing time.  We headed back to the hotel in the afternoon for some swimming and then ended the day by going out for pizza.

On Friday morning we headed to Jeff and Angie's for some family time.  I must say that it was so nice to be staying in someone's home.  Staying in one hotel room with 5 people (one of those being a baby) is NOT fun.  Sleeping is pretty much a joke :)  The boys were excited to see a tent set up for them in Uncle Jeff's backyard and I was excited to see a room for Brooklyn to sleep in :)

Ryan and Brandon could hardly contain themselves waiting for their cousins to show up.  Grandma Mona, Aunt Amy, Great-Grandma Velda and Great-Grandpa Daboldt brought Kylie with them on Friday afternoon and then Kristie came later with Uncle Rob and Auntie Nicole.  It was so much fun to see all the kids together.  They played so well together and seemed to truly enjoy being with each other.

The cousins!

The crew headed down to the lake.

We filled Friday, Saturday, and Sunday with fishing, swimming, tubing, BBQing, playing games, and building campfires.  It was a great vacation!

Absolutely gorgeous!!  Is that a great night sky picture, or what?!

Thank you Uncle Jeff and Auntie Angie for hosting, housing, loving and feeding all of us!  You are AMAZING and we can't wait to come visit again (if you'll have us)!!!!

The 4th of July

Every year we head to Donnelly for the 4th of July for a nice relaxing break.  This year the 4th fell on a Wednesday so we packed up on Tuesday evening to head to the lake.  We're going to be at the cabin until Sunday so needless to say we had a very full car on the drive up.

It was so nice to be able to spend time with Nate's Mom and Dad, both sets of his grandparents, Uncle Tom and Aunt Darlene, and cousin Heather.  Josh, Jo, and baby Luke came up for the week too so we had a full house.

I do not know how my boys could possibly have survived the entire week. . .each day was filled with bike riding, dirtbiking, swimming, skiing, building, campfires, fireworks. . .the list goes on and on.  Ryan and Brandon always say they sleep so much better at the cabin.  It's no wonder. . . those two do not stop.  From the time they wake up in the morning until we force them into bed at night, they are moving nonstop.  I really hope they remember all the fun and exciting things they got to do growing up.

Brooklyn handles being at the cabin very well.  Being at the cabin is a bit tough on me when we have one so young.  I still have to get naps in and be around in case Brooklyn wakes up, but I remind myself that each year gets easier and time flies by.  In a few years we will ALL be going non-stop.

We've put a bike trailer onto the back of my bike so that Brooklyn and I can go for bike rides and I can ride with the boys when Nate has other plans.  We also took our jogging stroller so we were able to do walks as well.

The week went by too fast and before we knew it, it was time to pack everything back up to go home.  We're excited to go back as soon as possible :)

Summer at the Cabin. . . .

Well, this summer the Lowry family is trying out a new cabin.  Over Memorial Day weekend, Nate and the boys headed up to Donnelly to help move things from the old cabin on Birch into the new place on Hereford.  (Brooklyn and I stayed in Boise since we were both sick.)  They worked very hard all weekend, but when the boys came home they were SO excited to tell me about the new place.

We were finally able to go back up to Donnelly the second weekend of June.  I am totally in love with the new place.  Not only does our family have a room inside the house (we were living in a tent trailer at the old place), but there are two bathrooms, a bigger kitchen, and it's really close to the water.  There is also a huge shop on the property and a small workshop that could be converted into a guest house.

This could be a great fit for our family so we'll have to wait and see if it's meant to be or not, but we are definitely enjoying the space while we have it.

During this trip, we discovered that all the kids have terrible seasonal allergies.  The pine dust is so bad at the cabin that it coats everything.  It's supposed to blow away and clear up by the 4th of July, but right now everyone is on Claritin or Zyrtec and we had to take Brooklyn into the doctor once we got back to Boise because her eyes swelled so much she only had little tiny slits she could see out of.  The doctor told me what allergy medicine she could have so hopefully we'll be good to go for the 4th of July.
